western theatre of the Civil War. Patrick was present

to Gen. Richard Taylor's Texicans at the battle of Milliken's
Bend. Patrick, recovering from an injury, begins to romance
the feisty lass from Minnesota. They are both at Vicksburg
when the Sultana sails north into a disaster.
